Just as the omnipresent Vince Cable was talking about cutting taxes (again), Nick Clegg has just dropped his party’s pledge to cut taxes in advance of the next General Election.
Is the right hand talking to the left hand at all?
Oh, and by the way, it’s official: LibDem councils now charge the highest average council tax in the country, followed by Labour and the then the Conservatives, who are, on average, 10% cheaper than LibDem councils.
Actions, not words.
Vince Cable, whose personal finances are inversely correlated with those of his constituents, has once again jumped on the bandwagon and said that the Conservatives are confused on tax, based on a side remark by George Osborne, that the 45p higher tax band will be “hard to avoid”.
Er, that’s not really the same as saying “we will implement this”, but Vince does need his daily fix of media, now that he’s discharged himself of his constituency duties and granted, it could have been phrased better by an experienced politician such as George Osborne.
Since Vince doesn’t like confusion then, how about this?
Vince Cable, March 2009:
Local people need a 4p in the £ tax cut NOW
Vince Cable’s Lib Dem Council in Richmond, Feb/March 2009:
Local people must pay 4p in the £ rise NOW and for the next year.
Pot, Kettle, Black?
Fear not, Conservative readers and rejoice not opposition readers. I am not about to join the Vince Cable-Gordon Brown love nest and blame Thatcher for the current economic problems we are facing.
No, on the contrary, I think the Conservative Party, or at least certain past members of it do have to say sorry, but not perhaps, for the reasons that have been banded around in the Westminster bubble and the press that lap up their every word.

Hat tip to Iain Dale for this story, which he in turn picked up from Fraser Nelson.
I’m speechless. What on earth has this to do with fraud or money laundering? Where is this information going and how is it being stored?
For those of you who questioned how much of a police state we’re in, here’s your answer.
