Euro MEPs have just voted to end Britain’s opt-out from the Working Time Directive by 421-273.
The last vestiges of competitiveness are now crumbling before us, and shamefully, many Labour MEPs voted to terminate the opt-out.
So even if I want to, I may now no longer be allowed to work more than 48 hours per week.
Ridiculous. A nail in the coffin of what is left of our competitive advantage and will hit our local small businesses the hardest.
It has been a couple of weeks since I wrote on this blog, which has not been a reflection of a lack of politics at the moments, but a symptom of too much, both locally and nationally - my case file has never been so big!
As has been the case for months now, the political story is the economy, although the last few days have bought some unexpected twists…
