Former Conservative Party leader, The Rt Hon Michael Howard MP, has kindly accepted an invitation to be be guest speaker at a fabulous dinner. This is your opportunity to share his thoughts on the topics of the day.

Friday 29th February 2008 - dinner with Michael Gove MP
The Times columnist and MP for Surrey Heath will be visiting us on Friday 29th February 2008 for dinner and again will give a brief  after-dinner talk. One of the most affable, witty and well-read members of the House, I am sure he will charm you all on the night.

Thursday 5th June 2008 - dinner  with The Rt Hon Ann Widdecombe MP
A formidable campaigner and now TV celebrity, she has been a stalwart for family values and straight talking politics since being elected to the House in 1987 for Maidstone & The Weald. She is sure be an entertaining speaker and forthright in her views! This isn’t likely to be a quiet evening!

More mayoral shenanigans

So the Labour Party really are scared of Boris!

The BBC have just reported that there are two Labour groups trying to scupper Boris’ chances of winning the Mayoral selection contest, by attempting to rig the open primary.

As someone who was a candidate during the 2005 “Banana Republic” elections in Birmingham, I can testify that some sections of the Labour Party will stop at nothing to win. In fact they proved that by letting Ken back in to the party because they couldn’t find a better candidate themselves!

However, what a good sign that they are scared of Boris - it has at least livened the contest up!
